Abstract
Hypersensitivity pneumonitis(HP), also called extrinsic allergic alveolitis, is an immunologically induced inflammation of the lung parenchyma resulting from the repeated inhalation of a variety of causative agents, including organic dusts and active chemicals. There are 30 or more groups of hypersensitivity pneumonitis, such as farmer¡¯s lung, bird fancier¡¯s disease, humidifier lung, air-conditioner disease, and summer-type hypersensitivity pneumonitis(SHP). Regardless of the causative agent or its environmental setting, the pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of the groups are similar. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis has been commonly classified as an occupational respiratory disease. However, evidence that sensitizing organism can also contaminate and cause pulmonary disease in home environment has been increasing. One such disease is SHP. In Japan, 75% of cases with HP are SHP. There has been high possibility of SHPs in Korea because our country has areas which have hot and humid summer climate similar to Japan. We report a case of summer-type hypersensitivity pneumonitis that confirmed by serum precipitin antibody of Trichosporon asahii.
